読書会やイベント出展を通じて「言葉・事物・現象と戯れるための場」を生み出してきたグループ「ibai」とともに、
写真集の読書会《THE HIDDEN SELF》を開催いたします。テーマは、みなさんにとっての「気になる一冊」。
思い入れ深い本はもちろん、自分にとって大切かどうかも決め切れないけれど、ここには何かがある気がする、
そんな一冊を持ち寄って言葉を交わすことで、写真集が日常と地続きのメディアになることを願います。

15分ほどの時間をかけおひとりずつ、持ち寄っていただいた写真集について、じっくりと言葉を交わします。
なぜその本を持ってきたのか、どんな場所で本を手にし、どんなときにページをめくるのか、たった今気になる写真はどの一枚か。
些細なことから重要なことまでさまざまにお話しいただき、質問をなげかけながら語り合い、一冊の写真集と向き合い、
あたらしい一冊と出会う時間にできればと思います。

もちろん、事前にPURPLEブックスペースで本をお選びいただくのも大歓迎です。

PURPLEに来られたお客様のなかには、「写真をどうみればいいかわからないけれど、気になる。だからここに来て考えてみるんです」とお話ししてくださる方もおられます。
今回は、戯れるように写真に手を伸ばし、まなざしを向け、感じたことを言葉にすることからはじまる、
軽やかな写真集との関わり合いを考えます。
本と人が出会うまでの物語に、読書会を通して耳を傾けられる時間となることを楽しみにしています。

A reading event of photo books

《THE HIDDEN SELF》will be held, together with 「ibai」which is a group that has been providing "a place to get in touch with words, things, and phenomena" through reading events. 

The theme will be 「A book of your interest」. It could be an unforgettable book of yours, or a book that you feel there is something in it that attracts you although the reason may be uncertain.

We hope that the act of discussing and exchanging thoughts on these books would make us feel closer connection to photo books in our daily lives.

With around 15 minutes for each person, we will have a conversation about the photo book brought by every participant. 

The discussion could flow with topics such as the reason you chose the book, where have you encounter the book, when do you feel like looking at the photographs, and which photo are you interested in.

You could also include any other specific or important things you would like to talk about and ask each other questions.

Participants are also highly welcome to choose your book from our book space.

We have encountered some of our customers saying "I am not sure about how I could look at photographs, but I am very interested. That is why I come here to have a thought on it." 

We hope this becomes an opportunity for the participants to get in touch with photo books and gaining a chance of putting the inner feelings in to words.

We are looking forward to being able to empathize memorable encounter of books and readers through this reading event.
